The CIRCLE project has several aims.
Firstly, we have wanted to offer a free open language education research reading circle format for language teachers and language teacher students. During 2021 we have live conversations each month where we can come together online to discuss the reading, lecture videos, and video interviews in each module. You can join the live conversations by clicking the link in one of the upcoming modules to be added to the mailing list, or by mailing us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A second aim has been to create this set of modules as an open educational resource for anyone to use for their own, or others’ professional development. The reading, videos, interviews, and discussion questions in the modules are still there after the live conversations. This would be suitable for an individual or a group of teachers or teacher students to organise their own pop-up workshop or reading circle. This might appeal to principals, heads of subject and lead teachers out there?
You may find this flyer/poster helpful if you plan to set up a reading group.
A third way that we have heard of the materials being used is in initial teacher education or teacher professional development where language teacher education colleagues use the material in the modules to flip their instruction, asking students or participants to use CIRCLE materials to prepare for a seminar.
Fourthly, we ourselves plan new credit-bearing online courses at Stockholm University based on this CIRCLE material at undergraduate and graduate level for 2022. Keep an eye on our course pages at the Department of Language Education or our Facebook group, or follow us on Twitter.
